Fender Rumble Club

Update--on my gig last week I used the external audio hookup to power pads between songs that I made in Garageband. I have a fan recording where it stands out loud and clear with the bass. I will see if I can upload it tonight. I had my Bose l1 on stage for my sax and would normally use it--but I wanted to see how it sounded because my pads have some deep lows in them. Sounded great.

Hmm, ok. I thought you were saying put a screw in the hole where the logo goes and pull it out that way. I still may try that.

You can use the original screws. Unscrew the logo (taking care to remember where the holes are), screw the original screws back in about as far as they would be with the logo in place. Tie a piece of string around one of the screws and pull the grill out. I've tried it, and it works fine. Staple the strap and screw the logo back on, and you're done.

Thanks, this is exactly what I did. I actually superglued it, then stapled it 3 times. I went ahead and covered 3 of the velcro strips with tape. Seems like heavier, stronger velcro than my v3 200 c.

Works just fine now!

A Lot! There are folks that just breeze through never to show up again. Most people truly are clueless when it comes to gain structure. Some don't know the difference between a gain control and a channel volume. The knowledge is here for those that want it. There are plenty of folks here with a lot expertise to tap.

I must admit, it's good to try something different as well.

The internet forums are always full of mis-information - I've lost count of the amount of times that I've read to adjust volume first, and then add gain to taste.

Wow, I don't get a chance to play electric much lately so I hadn't plugged it in to my new v3 500c yet.... until last night. I've just been dialing in my Upright with great success.

Damn. A little overdrive with the vintage /bright activated and my fretless Fender Dimension sounds beastly! Whoa! Tru Bass tapewounds just growling on a FRETLESS neck... This is too fun.

It did however expose some weakness with my Upright pickup setup. I wasn't expecting the volume I heard with such SWEET tone. Threw my seinheissers on to practice, and just had a great time. I love my string band, but some rock and roll sure would be fun! Damn. I really feel like I've got more than my moneys worth, even with the grill frustration. I currently have absolutely no need for an extension cab, but I doubt that will affect my decision... :bassist::hyper::bassist::hyper:

I've said that very thing. I've never lived with an amp that had a gain stage and not a channel volume. All my Rumbles have a single simple volume control. The Fender tube amps I played through most of my bass playing life were channel volume and master. Some only had a simple volume control and a tone control which was a simple treble cut only control just like a Precision bass.

It's very important to know your desired tone destination before you set out or you'll never reach it. I love tone sculpting and use a Whirlwind Bass Ten 10 band graphic EQ.

So True! Take the humble little Rumble 40 for example. Just $200. Look at any half way decent $100 stompbox distortion unit and compressor. For the very same $200 you get a much better overdrive and compressor plus a free 40 watt 1x10 combo that sounds dynamite. It's the biggest high tech bargain in the entire bass amp market. Hands Down. Nothing Better. Plus you get the very same front end as the 500! Just incredible.

I love my Rumble 40, great little amp. Great value for money.

I'm far from a expert at gain and overdrive controls. Is the compression automatic? Am I right in thinking the vintage setting has a high amount of compression? I really just need to stop playing so much (eqs at noon, gain at 9/10 and master normally at 12 for practice) and experiment a little more with what the rumble has to offer.

I'm just a plug in and play kind of guy...probably the reason why I'm not a massive fan of active bass guitars...

Yes, read the Rumble talks and look at the tone pool. They did me a world of good.

Thanks for this, and questions Mr Linnin and to any others who would care to answer. Short blunt answers will suffice :P

The 40W is not a class D Amp? If so, does this make a big difference to watt-volume ratio?

Are the Eminence speakers significantly better in the 100/200/500 than the lower quality(?) speakers in the 15/25/40?

The 2x10 cab, do these units have the Eminence speaker like their 500 combo counterpart?

Will using more gain, and less master volume result in a tone with less compression?

Do you agree that rumbles are SO DAYUM AWESOME!?

The Rumble 40 combo is an A/B class amp. Real actual Watts (that Fender Rumbles actually have) are full Watts, and there is no watts-to-volume ratio. There is a lot of flat out lying that goes on in amplifier marketing. Your Real World Watts Will Vary. Divide: Ampeg watts; Peavey watts, and TCE watts by 2. Behringer watts by 4.

YES

Exactly the very same. In fact the Rumble 210 cabinet is made in China by Eminence for Fender as is the Rumble 112.

Will using more gain, and less master volume result in a tone with less compression?
Just the opposite is true. Higher gain settings will result in higher compression.
