Fender Rumble Club

Out of curiosity. Which set up is better.

200 head with 210 cab

Or

Combo 500?
Rumble 500 Combo: 350 watts into the internal 2x10's: $550
Rumble 200 Head: $300; 140 watts into an 8 ohm load.
Rumble 210 Cabinet: 8 ohms and exact same size box as the Rumble 500 Combo: $350

The Rumble 500 combo gives you more for less $$$

If we're comparing apples and apples, you would use the 500 head.

Pro
500 head + 210 cab: flexibility to use different combinations of cabs as the mood or venue calls for.
200 head + 210 cab: [same]
500 combo: lighter weight, quicker setup, significantly lower cost (by a full $200).
Tone-wise, you're working with the same palette with any of the above.

Con
200 head + 210 cab: less power, still more expensive than a 500 combo (by a full $100).

edit: I see you are in the UK so the prices could be wildly different.

To me, the Rumble 200 combo is very attractive as an easy grab-and-go jam & pub gig amp. It will also suffice for personal practice.

Yeah I will be getting a better gigging amp when I eventually have the time to gig. Keep the 40 as a bedroom amp. But I will probably go the whole way and get a combo 500. Plus I love the sound of 2x10 speakers

Just played with the eq knobs a lot while playing my P. Got to love that P bass tone. Nailed The Police, and even though I can't play any Rush, the amp can mostly recreate Geddy's tone on their first album.

Played with the Overdrive a bit on my J. Even though I am not a good slapper, it really does help create a slapping punch.

I really couldn't be happier with the V3 Rumbles. Best decision I have made to come back to Fender from Ashdown.

Really enjoying my new Rumble 500 combo as well.... quick quesiton though, there is an audible "pop" when first turning the amp on, is this normal?
My V3 Rumble 25 pops coming on and going off. My V2 Rumble 350 is the very quietest amp I've ever owned and makes absolutely no noise at all.

As far as your situation is concerned @Crusher47, go ahead and give Fender a call and see what their official stance is on the issue. Do let us know.

Do you have a pedal tuner? I always engage mine and turn on the amp then tune up. By time I'm done and bypass the tuner there is no pop. Also I never turn an amp on with the volume turned way up.
