Fender Rumble Club

There are bylaws? are not musicians? meaning: eff that.
Yep, of course we have bylaws. Fake bylaws with fake numbers that we can use and manipulate however we choose, to make it seem silly to come in our little corner of TB and try to cause trouble. The three smiley faces were very real though. They represented "we"!!

I believe this whole conversation started, perhaps, because it actually bothers some people that the Rumbles have been so dependable for us (we).

Talking seriously for a moment, even if Linnin was a fender rep, so what? seems like a plus to me. over on the GK forum they have GK peeps all the time chiming in, which is super helpful. even Robert Gallien himself. yes, they disclose, but even if they didn't, so what? good info is good info. the one thing I don't want to do is scare any Fender peeps off of here. they're been very good to me personally, and very good to all of us just in bringing the V3 Rumbles to market.I hope Fender is on here. To wit:

I could use a 212 cab laid out in a straight-line array (not staggered as is the current 210). My address is:...

OK, in the spirit that Fender reads this (and someone put the idea into my head about new rumble stuff...):

One of the thing that concerns me about the 500 combo is, what do i do if I blow the speakers on a gig? Or if the head goes down but not the speakers? Or if I just want to use a different cab without the 210s? I used to have a combo (Carvin I think) in which the head was actually separate from the speaker enclosure, they were connected by a short speaker cable. I always thought that was a good idea, because it allowed me to pair the amp in the combo with other speakers. Maybe Fender could consider that as a design "refinement" for future combos. Or simply put the head into a box that pairs it with the 210, and recess the amp face a bit. The latter would be pretty cool, as I'm also not a fan of the top knobs - they get knocked around during transport.

As much as I agree, I bet they would say you should have bought the head and cab separate that they also offer.

I was thinking about this when I originally purchased my 500 combo. At the time, I had a GK Backline 600 to use as a backup. I sold that amp recently, so I no longer have a backup if for some reason I have an issue with the combo. My plan is to eventually get the 500 head and another 210 cab, and use the 500 combo as the backup/home practice amp. Of course, now is the time of the year that I am usually quite broke, so I don't know when I'll be able to do this.

I was asking myself also if the combo could be used as just a speaker as well.
Take a look at some pictures I took of my Rumble 100: Fender Rumble Club
The speaker is connected to the amp with a connector (and thinner cables I would have imagined/preferred).
I guess the 200 and 500 combos share the same layout. So to use just the speaker(s) would just mean to cut the wires, drill a hole for a female plug, solder the cables and you would be done.
I'm no technician so my only question would be if there could be any downside to connecting an external amp and maybe frying the Rumble combo amp.
An additional 2-way switch could solve that problem of course.

I know what you are saying, I have the 500 combo as well as a 500 head & couple cabs. I guess even if the 500 head blew on a gig, you'd be in trouble....unless you bring another back-up head.
But I concur, all combos should have the option of a direct out to the cab, so you could bypass either if needed. Doesn't seem that unreasonable!

I'm about to mod my 500 combo to allow a head to hook up to it. As much as I like the sound of the rumble 500 my Hartke LH500 head IMO is leagues ahead on a clean tone in a live setting. Since I already have a rumble 210 extension and a 210 500 combo I figure the weight savings compared to the 410 cab I use now will be welcomed.

I did, I have a 500 head and two 112 cabs. But I like to carry a spare amp (usually a MarkBass F500), and if I'm using the combo only, I have to tote along an extra cab as well. definitely not efficient.

I too have thought about a mod that would add a jack that, when plugged into, would attach to the speakers only and disconnect the amp. Easily done, but I don't want to void the 5-year warranty. Especially since this argument is specifically talking about the amp dying!

Perhaps. But then again, perhaps not. Wouldn't that be kind of like saying that " if one slot of my toaster goes , I should be able to use the other one, and maybe connect it to my oven"? A combo amp is one unit. If it breaks, it breaks. That's part of the deal.

Nah, that's kind of ridiculous. It can be designed any way. just because it's been done one way does not mean it has to be done that way forever. And as I said, I have had combos in the past that had this feature. I could add it tomorrow if i didn't want to void the warranty.
