We're talking about Fender making a 212... so from my personal idiot department...
I think I'd like one of those myself, although for the life of me I can't say how it would be different from my two 112s. I was thinking I wanted one so bad I was starting to plan out a new cab to make. However, the one I wanted was different; it has an angled top speaker, like the Marshall slant 412. Ok, cool.
In doing the pre-build research, I run across an article here on TB about doing just such a thing. Quite a good discussion about it, but then it dawns on me (after reading Bill Fitzmaurice's comments on that speaker thread), why not just angle back the top speaker? Duh. Can't believe that didn't occur to me.
I did just that last night. I liked it. Still had the bottom and punch, only I could hear the definition better. I'm sure it messes with the phasing of the cab "coupling," but so what, if it sounds good that's for me.
So in sum, just sharing my dumbness with the group. Thanks to TB and Bill in particular.
