Pardon me for not wanting to read back through 532 pages in this thread, but for those of you stacking combos on external cabs, what do you do to ensure the combo doesn't end up on the floor unexpectedly?
Never an issue for me. The only reason I could see it toppling over would be from running into it, which would, more than likely, bring any other stack down as well.

This sounds typical of a bad solder joint. Cold joints may pass a visual inspection and a short operational test, but as the operating temperature increases or vibration increases, the connection may become intermittent.

The various electronics modules in the Rumble line are well-engineered and I expect there would be virtually no failures within any of them. However, the humans who are assembling the final products could make the occasional bad solder joint which might pass short operational tests. This would fall squarely under the definition of a "manufacturing defect" and would most certainly be covered under warranty.

I think a bad solder joint during final assembly is the most likely cause of your amp's problem.

Agreed. I'll certainly know soon.

I feel like my rumble 500 combo is underperforming. At rehearsal all the way cranked still doesn't feel like enough. Do I buy an extension cab or sell and try something else? I mean, i love the sound I get, but it feels like it's not enough. Maybe the other guys are too loud?

Wow, I’ve never had a problem being heard with just the combo going. What settings are you using? Is it on the floor or raised up?

Just picked these up! Still in the process of cleaning them up, but wanted to post them anyway! Do I get a number? These are those 1995 - 1997 era Rumble Bass 410s. 4 ohms and 600 watts each!

You damn skippy! Those are the original Fender Custom Shop Rumble cabinets!
:woot: WOOT! :woot: Welcome to the Fender Rumble Club @99Z3! You are member #623 :hyper: As you can see, the bottom cab is a 'sub' and the top cab is not. So you do have to run them both together in order to get the full range. Do you have the original Rumble all tube 300 watt head?
 Rumbles Rock Baby! You Know They Do! :smug:

As for the head, no, the guy sold it on evilbay! But I snagged the cabs at a great price! And thank you for the info as to what they actually are! And thank you for the number!

You're welcome. Send the serial number off of each cabinet to [email protected] and ask them for 'all information'. They'll send you everything they have to include date of manufacture. You'll want to print that out as official documentation. I hope you got them at a good price.

I imagine those would sound HUGE thru a 2 ohm stable amp. .. or 2 Fender Rumble 500 heads. (or my Super Bassman. ....if, of course you'd like to ship em over to me to try out for you. I cannot, however, guarantee safe return shipping):smug::bassist:
The amp that is on top is 2 ohm stable, but I am going to see if I can find a tube amp to put on top!
On the scheme of sharin', I'd be more than whillin' to share a pint, get flat like a lizard drinkin' wit ya, but yeah, the cabs have to stay here mate, cheers!

That's a good question, what amp are you going to
Use? And can the non-sub cab still be used without the sub and sound good.
See above;)

Just in case you were wondering where the retro-styled 'Wheel of Cheese' knobs on the third generation Rumbles came from.

The 'Brown Face' Fender Bassman heads in Blonde & Oxblood (the very first of the piggy backs) from 1961 until the Black Face came out in 1965.

ps- forgive me if my history is a little off, as I am going off the top of my head.

That would look good on top of @99Z3 's stack.
