Looks like I'm about to join the cab conundrum...
Scored a super sweet deal on a 500 head, now I have to decide on a which cab to buy after I sell my Rumble 350 combo. 15,12,210.... Hoping to stumble upon a used cab here in Ontario, like I did with the head, but they don't show up used very often in the local online classifieds.
I'm thinking 210, as I likely won't need more than 1 cab, but starting with 112, and adding a 112 later if needed is an idea.
Or maybe just a 115.... Dammitt!!

If you have a smaller Rumble and just want to use it for the XLR (essentially as a DI box) you can hook up the XLR and then put an 1/8" dummy plug in the headphone out. This mutes the speaker but the XLR is still active.
As for the 40 vs. 100...at close range there will be a minimal if any difference in volume. Get out in front a bit though and the 12" 100 can hang somewhat with a drummer in a band context.

Yeah.. I have.. I like it a bunch! Though these are not the rumble cabs of today.. they are Rumble cabs!
Yes, I've seen several using a Bassman head on Rumble cab(s).
But, I seem to be the only one to run a Bassman cab from a Rumble (500 combo, in my case).
Yes, I was continuing my Bassman ways with the 115 cab while saving for a 100T or Super, when the Rumble 500 combo highjacked me!
And I've loved it ever since. But now thinking about the Bassman 500! (sigh)
I'd love to know if the Bassman head really does make a big difference against the Rumble 500.

No, this is exactly what I use for my Rumble 350 head to my Rumble 112 neos. ProCo 3' speaker cables with heavy Nutrik male plugs.

Need no but advisable yes. SpeakOn connectors vastly out class quarters in every conceivable way. Eventually they WILL become the only choice as North America catched up with Europe. I got rid of quarter inch plugs for speaker connects years ago.
I use a tube amp.. so it will be a very long time before I go all SpeakOn connectors
True, but the head is 1/4" heavy duty female power jacks only.
Does he have a choice? Unless I misunderstand speakon, he has to buy 1/4" for the rumble stuff. I could be misunderstanding.
You can buy a 1/4" to speakon if you want to, but it is not worth the extra $$. Fender added the speakon connectors to the V3 cabinets for those that want to use other speakon only heads.
With 500 watts, I'd go with 12-guage just because!
I got these: Invalid Link Removed for Rumble combo to extension cab and the Speakon-to-Speakon version for Bassman head to cabinets. I am very happy with the build quality of these cables. The strain relief is way better than what is shown in the pictures. My only worry with these cables is that the weight of them might strain the connection to the 1/4" jack.
I like using Speakon because then there is no mistaking what the cable is for.
