Fender Rumble Club

Flats are always best. President Linnin is a big fan of GHS Precision Flats, which are the strings I use on my primary. I use La Bellas on shorties.
I am absolutely smitten with the Precision flats. I hate playing the Hi-Beams on my LTD now, I'm looking to swap those out with gHs pressure wounds or some kind of half round. I want to keep the round sound without sacrificing the flat feel, lol.

GHS Pressurewounds are a really great string. To me, they have a little bit of that warmth that a good flat has, but has enough treble for just about any style of music. Like a well aged set of rounds in terms of sound but without the intonation issues of worn rounds. I've even heard slappers on it, and it sounds more than acceptable doing it. I can't think of a more versatile set of strings. Pretty affordable, too. They also feel pretty good on the fingers when sliding (I slide a lot).

I don't like most other half rounds because they tend to be ground wound, which to me are the worst of both worlds. Pressurewounds are the best of both worlds because they have that round presence, flat bottom end, round's ability to provide a pleasing grind when you dig in, but with the flat's lack of string noise. Ken Smith's Compressors are similar but much more expensive. That said, these days, I feel like I don't need the best of both worlds because I only want one world, and flats do it for me. I actually consider myself a relatively busy player, but with my Precision Flats, I feel like I never have to worry about my tone being annoying.

Good to know, thank you for the report and swaying my decision, lol.

I'm getting settled into this new amp. My word, the tone on this with flats is ridiculous! I look forward to the opportunity to open her up, have to keep her volume down so as not to irritate the spousal unit. I have her sitting atop my old Crate combo and I have noticed a slight hiss even with the horn turned off (it's way more evident with it on) and I attribute that to being closer to my ear and the relative quietness of the man cave. I certainly hear the fan, which is new to me since the Crate did not have one. It's not obnoxious and would be a non issue on any stage or venue setting. But the tone, WOW!

Also, put my Korg Pitchblack tuner and Digitech BP200 pedal on the FX loop. The pedal induces a little more hiss to the speaker output, but you don't notice it while playing. I don't use the pedal much, but there are times I need a little something extra sound wise for the praise songs we do at church. I like to practice using anything extra just to make sure it's good to go.

Love, love, love this amp!

How did you get the spouse to sit on the Crate?
Mine would hiss at me as well lol

can't wait to see

I take it the first pic is part of the new Geddy Lee live rig? :D
You beat me to it, though geddy Lee retired the dryers many tours ago, the henhouse rotisserie rig had a more enticing aroma, then followed by the original steam punk creations, with the grand finale being fake ampegs

Maytag has a better tone than Samsung, but perhaps the microwave head series is an improvement over the more tried and true maytag coin ops?

Before the maytags there was an old fridge up there.

Recently abandoned my Ampeg BA115 for a new Rumble 40. Love it, love it, love it.

I will be buying a Rumble 200 soon. They sound great for what I do (4 string - passive p/u)

Very disappointed in the new Ampegs though, they just don't justify the price they ask for them (IMHO).
Welcome to the Fender Rumble Club @tattooSAM! :woot:
