Fender Rumble Club

Looking into the possibility of getting into a 'Shag Band' Playing Beach & Surfer Music from the late 1950's and early 1960's. Had a good jam with some of interested principal movers & shakers. 1976 Fender Precision strung in GHS Precision flats through my new faithful Rumble companion, the mighty Rumble 200 combo. Horn off. Vintage voicing IN. Gain at 11 o'clock. Bass & Lo-Mids at High Noon. High-Mids & Treble cut slightly to 11 o'clock. Master = as much as I needed when I needed it. I sounded straight out of 1962!

Shaweet! I thought said you didn't need it somewhere in this thread? :)

I may have to get the matching 2x10 amp stand for my own 500c some day. Just, you know, because. I have plenty of volume now with the gain at noon and master at 9 o' clock, but everybody needs an amp stand.

I was surprised when I tried a 210 under a 500combo. It is NOT all about volume. Something happens. Something good. Very good.

Getting something like that started around where I am is nothing but laughable!

The only places we have left to play at around here mainly night club wise is the VFW and such.. I am not against it.. just that they have a limitation as to what you can get by with music wise.. which is mainly music that is stuck in a rut!
Not here on the 'Redneck Rivera', clubs clamor for them, and Shag dance clubs hire them on a monthly basis. Plus it's fun.

I'm guessing shag means something different there than in Aussie slang?

Unless of course you are in a band specialising in horizontal folk dancing?

I would call the Sandpiper in Laguna Beach a "shag club" in the British Empire meaning of the word. Live music, cheap drinks, and if you put half a bit of effort into it, there is a high likelihood you can leave with some friendly company.

But I have never heard the term "shag club" applied either to a style of dance place or a pick-up bar. And we invented surf music.

The high-end audiophile geeks give a lot of attention to speaker break-in. Get those diaphragms to limber up, I guess!

Haha, very different. I almost spat my green tea over my iPhone when I read your earlier post Linnin.

Looks like fun, but to be clear, down here, if a lady takes you by the hand to take you for a quick shag, you won't be heading for the dance floor. . We generally don't root for our team (but some do lol) either.

Viva La Difference!
