Rumbles Really Roar When Cranked! Highly Recommended!I did have to crank the gain and overdrive level to 12 and the master to 2 to get enough volume to hear myself well, but it sounded great.

Owned one for about a year and a half. Upgraded and gave it to my brother, and still play it some times when I visit. I'm very pleasantly surprised each time.I not sure if it was a SUB or not, but I've played on the lower end models they have at GC. It did play well, neck had a good feel, electronics and HW are easy to swap out, etc. However they were all way to heavy, not sure what that's about but everyone i tried felt like it was 12lbs+.
I owned a Rumble 25 for about a year to leave at my guitarist's house. It served it's purpose and acquitted itself well. No, it can't truly reproduce a low E fundamental, but sounded just fine without straining or farting. I have posted my optimal tone settings in the tone pool.HAPPY FENDER FRIDAY!
(I am looking at YOU, Linnin!)
Hey, I certainly know how capable my 500C is, but what about the extreme at the other end...the Rumble 25? I am considering gifting my old pal with one but want to be sure it is decent sounding. He would only play it in his apartment so it isn't like he needs something like a 200 or 500. But still, I am concerned that it won't quite be convincing. Does that 8" speaker do justice to a 4-string?
Thanks in advance!

While it is just fine for the bedroom and low volume practice, the Rumble 40 is just so much better. Is it 100% more $$$ better ($99 vs $199)? Emphatically yes, most definitely.
I ended up selling it to another bass player to give to an underprivileged teenager that he was mentoring. I still have my V2 Rumble 75 and 350, plus my V3 Rumble 200. All Basses are covered.
I use one for bedroom practice. I find it does a fine job. It even reproduced the low B nicely.HAPPY FENDER FRIDAY!

Yep, it does. Handling a low B and reproducing a fundamental 31 Hz are two different things. I don't know of any bass combos that can actually do that, and just a very few high $$$ speaker cabinets that can. Plus you need a truck load of watts to do it with.I use one for bedroom practice. You would win that bet!My bet is that MOST 5-string players don't have a cabinet capable of the 31Hz frequency response.
You do! Bring your friend along too. The Rumble 40 is just so much more versatile.Thank you, Dale!
Methinks I will need to hear both the 25C and the 40C.

When I was younger, I would often go with the less-costly option and live to regret it. So if in doubt I will lean towards the 40. But, I will give the 25 a honest chance. Thanks to all for offering their thoughts.
Keep in mind I'm not suggesting that the 25 is in any way better than the 40. The 40 has more power, a 10" speaker and an XLR output. It should be a better amp than the 25, but it's also double the money. I wrote about the 25 because it was mentioned in your original post. I AM saying the 25 is amazingly loud for 25W and an 8" speaker and the tone is very good. It's the best amp I've ever heard for under $100. The 40 should be louder, also have great tone and be more versatile - no question. I got my 25 for practicing at low volume at home. I was pleased and surprised it could handle an acoustic combo and my oldies/classic band at practice volume. That was a bonus. For practicing at home, I don't think you can go wrong with either one.
^^^All this is True, and i concur that the Rumble 25 is the best $100 bass amp ever made by mankind.^^^I AM saying the 25 is amazingly loud for 25W and an 8" speaker and the tone is very good. It's the best amp I've ever heard for under $100.
