Fender Rumble Club

I've a Rumble 30, 75 and now 150. I really love the versatility the amp gives you. I just fiddle around in my basement mind you so and I've only been playing for 2 years so my opinion is not based on a whole lot of experience! I do have a slight bother though. I find a low level echo-y noise coming from the amp. It disappears when I turn both mid buttons off. Anyone else experiencing this? Could I join the Club?

Quick questions (purely curiosity) what brought you to owning 3 rumble combos? Constant upgrades? Also Having both mid buttons in would probably make for a little weird of an eq curve.. Would it not? Maybe that's why it sounds strange?

You got it! Upgraded as I evolved!?! I'm still new at this but I started playing with drummer who knows only one volume setting! So in order to be heard I had to go bigger. In regards to your EQ statement you're probably right. I'm just trying to find the bass sound I hear in my head and I started with the knobs all at 12 o'clock and fiddled around until I found something I liked. It could also be the pickup in my bass. I play with a Fender Cabronita bass and that Pup is pretty hot and has more mids than my Squier CV 50s pbass. One day I'll get there!! Thanks and take care.

Awesome you'll have the whole range sooner than you think! Haha, eq wise on my rumble 350 I set my bass flat, I cut a tiny tiny bit of the high mids (using the parametric eq) and boost a little treble.
I've played a 75 and 150 before so I know what it sounds like, I've never played the cabronita but it looks killer! Try what I do, set the bass flat set the low mids flat and boost the treble a bit and cut the high mids by a tiny bit, it gives me a natural sound I can put effects etc on top of and I'm very happy with it. What Kind of sound are you after anyways?

Soundwise I'm pretty close to getting what I'm looking for. I like blues, blues rock southern rock and classic rock. Big fan of ZZ Top, Fab TBirds, Los Lobos... You get my drift! I like bottom end with enough grit to be heard thru that insane drummer buddy of mine!!! Dusty Hill's live sound is close to what I'm aiming for.

That live sound is a cool tone! I'd just start with everything flat and the tweeter off and just see where you end up from there, it sounds like he's got a lot of highs giving him that bite maybe low mids to give him that punch but let us know how it goes!

I'm a little nervous, my little 30 is going to be dropped off for a vacation with the GC techs. She has her warrantee there, and it looks like this problem will probably be covered. Do they know their stuff? There's trouble with the inputs, wires, or one of the control boards inside. Hopefully she'll be back home very soon!

Thanks for that link, Linnin! No time for me to finish reading it right now but it looks like total print out material!

You are quite welcome, BumbleB. I didn't know and wasn't sure if links to other forums were permitted or not.

I wouldn't worry too much about how accomplished GC techs are. If the problem isn't easily and quickly fixable, Fender gives you a new amp. Or at least that is what I have been told in the past. How true this may be, you'll find out.

Here's a link to a review of my Rumble 75 that has been well received. Invalid Link Removed

So i recently sold my rumble head. I still have my rumble 4x10 cab and am now using it with a gk goldline 500. Wow. This cab really can pump out the db's. It was already pretty loud with my 150 head but the 500 watt head has more headroom and a little more flexibility to the tone shaping. I do wish it was an 8 ohm cab as i would like to pair it with a second one but oh well.

I've been curious about changing the speakers in my 350 combo, any recommendations?

These are the puppies to instal! Eminence Legend BP102-8. Just Eighty Smackers A Piece. No need to go to the extra expense of light weight NEO woofs as the MDF combo cabinet is already so heavy. Also be advised you'll be voiding your 5 year Fender warranty by doing so.

Did ya want a number, cyco739z?

Looks like my 30 is going to the repair shop after all. Will be getting confirmation of that tomorrow. It will be so sad and quiet in this house with out him :bawl: Do any of you think of amps as males too?

Keep spreadin' the Rumble Love my friends! :D
