Fender Rumble Club

Welcome, Broadstbully and pastorbill!

The picture didn't show up, Broadstbully. Tell us more about your Rumble set up and maybe someone else can help you troubleshoot why the picture isn't there.

pastorbill, there are these fun little clubs all over the TB community! From what I can gather, if you participate in a club's discussion thread you can join and get a number in just about any of them. If you find an interesting sounding club in someone's signature just do a search for the thread and hop on in! :D

So the newest numbers are...

:bassist:Got hit with the dreaded BACKORDER message from the place I ordered my Rumble 410 from. Small-ish store and it's actually not surprising they don't have one in stock but nonetheless I want my cab now! Hoping to get an email today to figure out an estimated time. Too long and I'll pay the extra $$ to get it from somewhere that has it in stock.:bassist:

A few posts back i saw someone with a tube rumble 300 from the 90's i think. I am looking to buy a tube bass amp soon. I have considered the obvious SVT and i have thought about the new 300t which i read is a clone of a sunn, which may not be a bad thing. I have looked at traynor and i have thought about a bunch of stuff. The only tube bass amp i have ever actually gotten a chance to play through was an svt-cl at gc. From the first open e i new that i would quest on for tube tone with bass as i have for guitar for so many years. The sound of that amp was amazing. I am wondering though if there are others of similar awesomeness. I love the look and uniqueness of that all tube rumble 300 and wondered how does it compare to said svt. I wont say money is no object as it definitely is but i am willing to save up for a while and scour craigs list, ebay and the used threads here. I just am not sure what im looking for because no music shops round here stock anything high end except gc stocking the svt.

So i said a lot to say how similar is the rumble 300 tube to the current fender 300t and how are they both similar or different to an svt?

That's mine, I bought it new back in 1999, still have it. See post #63 on page 4.

It's an amazing amp, I can't play it effectively in the house as it shakes the walls and windows too much. I've only gigged it twice, the last time was when the band I was in at the time opened for the Beach Boys in a 7,500 seat outdoor amphitheater in Virginia. Right now it's just sitting unused in my home studio. I've been thinking about selling it but the buyer would have to pick it up as it is too heavy and bulky to ship. The head alone is over 70 lbs.

IMO the tone is better than any of the modern SVT's I've played through in the past 40 years. It sounds much like the old silverface blue line '70's SVT's which were the best of the best. I haven't played through a 300T (or the Sunn from which it morphed) but both those amps have really good reputations.

I'm a fan of 2x15 cabs for outdoor or large room gigs, which is why mine has that '70's Peavey slot port cab shown in the earlier pic. The speakers are E-V 15BX's which are no longer made but are the best 15's I've ever tried...I have 3 cabinets loaded with them.

There are many great solid state amps available (I'm a big Mesa fan) but nothing matches the thunderous, crushing tone of a good 300-400 watt tube bass rig. :D

Thanks for the reply woodyj. That amp is beautiful. It is so much more so than the current 300t. Im a fan of tens, and lots of them. I would either be running the head with a 4x10 fender cab or a 6x10 markbass cab. I do own 2 single 15 cabs but nothing substantial. I have a lot of amps but none i love. The rumble 150 head is great for portability. The fender pro sounds so clean and neutral that it is almost like a pa with really good bass. The peavey megabass is similiar. I am a guitar player as well as a bassist and so much of my sound for guitar comes from my amp that it is not an amp but part of my instrument and i don't see why i need to give that element of my creative pallette up just because i play a guitar with a long neck and 4 strings. Bass by the way is a 4 string deal in my world.

I NEED a tube amp.

Ditto on guitar and 4 string bass. I started on guitar in '64, bass in '73. I've probably had 20 basses over the years, mostly Fender Precisions.

One of my favorite bass AND guitar amps is the '60's Fender Dual Showman. These are "only" 85 (tube) watts but with proper speakers they work particularly well as bass amps even though the cabinet design isn't optimal. Dual Showmans are plenty loud enough for medium size venues even without FOH support and sound great, especially through a modern 4 ohm cabinet.

Ok. My app is fixed. Its letting me post pics again. Here is my rig. I'll put this up against anything. I make believers everyday. My guitarist was the biggest hater in the world, but he is now one of the loudest supporters. I have a ampeg pro 3 on a fridge 8x10 that will never leave the basement again. It can't compete. I will say one of these is loud but the tone suffers, it's a little weak sounding. Two of them in stereo sounds amazing and really surprised me.

Wow.. I'd love to double up if it was practical! How loud to these really get? Do you think it's a better option than say the rumble 410 with a 350 head? This is really interesting me tell me some more about your discovery please aha

I have 410s with 700 hundred watts insteaf of 350. Plus one more tweeter than the 410. I also have two amps run in stereo making a very round full sound. This gets stupid loud. I've never had it past noon. Go to gc and try it and believe. Lol.
