Had the NYE nightmare gig from hell. However--I did drown out the really bad stuff with the Rumble 500C. LOLOLOL
I kept asking the singer to rehearse...she kept saying..."No, the pianist has it down--you just need to know your stuff." lolololol
Trio--bass/sax, piano and singer. When I showed up I immediately knew it was going to suck---BIG TIME.
The pianist literally had sheet music with transcribed jazz solos from JAZZ pianist's solos as her music. She stopped and started on EVERY song. It was the most unreal, unprofessional, disgustingly sick gig I HAVE EVER DONE. I TURNED DOWN 2 GRAND FOR THIS ****.
Anyway--I got home early. To add salt to my wounds--a lot of it got live streamed on FB. There were actual tone deaf rejects that thought it sounded good. I just can't. What the hell is wrong with this world? It has gone mad. I never did this with my first band at 15.

Just to reiterate--my bride of 32 years showed up for one set and left. She has been through all my good and bad times with music. She said it was the worst pianist she had ever heard and could not get past it.

...just to complete my rant---I refused the pay and left as soon as "I" finished Auld Land Syne. Hell--she couldn't even get through that one.
Just for a laugh....the third song in was "The Thrill Is Gone." She is having to "read" this. Guess what? She was reading it as swing eight notes. She never caught on. I literally started laughing and started singing loudly "the thrill is gone."

Hi all. I'm about to get a 5-string. I currently have the 500 combo. I may want to put something underneath it. Is the 115 necessary? Will the 210 suffice? Should I just go as-is?
I don't play anywhere giant but I would like to be able to hear the low B. As for my playing style I play round wounds, like to slide a lot, and stick to a more vintage bassy sound without a whole lot of punch.

Yes. Just live with your Rumble 500 combo alone to start.

My 500 C does a good job with the low B's of my various 5ers and 6ers.
I have a 2x10 under mine. I'm happy with it. But, I'm not sure you really need it. It can get really LOUD
Only reason that i stack it is so that it makes it easier to hear it without cranking it to 11
I have been using the 500C for almost 2 years, using a Warwick Thumb 5. It carries the bottom end just fine. The combo has been fine for rehearsals but I always use the 210 cab at gigs, mainly to get the sound closer to my head. Back the bass off to about 10 o'clock and you should be fine with whatever fiver you feed into it.
Be different, get a 112. I play low C through mine stacked under the rumble 200 combo. It looks cool too (500 will look the same).
So I found another video from my Dec 3 tribute gig.
Tone is boomier with less punch than I like, and that is for 2 reasons, both my fault. First, I figured my curad alcohol prep pad wipe of my strings after the prior rehearsal was enough, so I did not do my full 91% soaked rag cleaning, and it sat uncleaned in the bag for 2 days. Strings sounded dead and they were only one rehearsal old. My skin oil kills nickels fast.
2nd, I'm thinking nu metal, shavo odajian, scoop might be a good idea, so I had contour on. Won't be using contour with the bird again.
Otherwise, for SOAD a fat boomy bass tone does work.
So contour, slightly dead nickels (dean markely nickelsteels which are a little scooped as is), stock MIK epiphone Thunderbird. XLR out to PA. 200combo stacked on 112. And you can see it well in this video.
