Hello All,
So I know this is a personal taste kind of question but here goes
I am looking at the 500 2x10 combo
I would like to add a cab
Which is 'better' a 2x10 or 1x15 ext. cab

You will definitely find a split opinion on this issue. I think more lean to the 1X15. However, several have noted they don't stack evenly and you loose a few watts(maybe?).

From what I know from running my 500C alone---I ain't worried about getting any louder...so, I may go for the 1X15 when it is time to move up. You win either way.

I can't give you an answer from experience, as I haven't tried adding an extension cab (I have PA for any extra oomph I may need) but if I was thinking of getting one, I would go for the 210. My reason is that I love the sound of the 210 I have, so it would double the goodness

But yes you do! Add any 8 ohm speaker cabinet and the combo achieves its full 500 watts. I hope you know more about criminal law than you do about Ohm's Law.

see..that is why i put "maybe?' in (). But can you push the 115 to the max volume of the 500c?

I think you are confusing efficiency, SPL and watts.

Anybody wanna compare the 115 and 112 cab? Thinking about getting two of one these. Are they voiced the same?

I find the 15's to be the one for me, but definitely try to do a comparison as we all have our own thoughts on what we want to sound like. Either way, you'll be getting a great cab! Rumble on!

I actually opted for a separate 500 head and 210 rather than the combo......i did this because I already have a GK combo and didn't want two, and the added flexibility of using different cabinet combinations if the future if/when the need arises. I play mostly small clubs/stages and am often to close to the cab to hear well and no FOH, having it up in the air will help me hear better and the extra x2 10's could help fill the room better without being excessively loud.

+1; I also went with the R500 head and 210 cab and plan on buying another 210 cab for 500 Watts of 410's for outside mainly. Also the 210 cab sounds killer with the R200c 115 -some people just don't know that yet! Never had no tone or volume issues with no band and I mainly sub.

Time to become a member. I have both a Rumble 350 and a Rumble 500. Like the weight of the 500 for sure, may get a 1x15 cabinet for it in the future.

Definitely clear and articulate, very capable of achieving a multitude of tones without any mud. I've got a 200c with the 15, and I've got a 112 ext can, both sound great, and together they go into beast mode!

Depends on the power rating, and i don't know what it is for either cab. but IME if the efficiency is high, you need fewer watts to get to your desired SPL. The 112 (and most 112s generally) needs more watts to get to the same SPL as the 210, I know that from experience.

Ultimately that is what I was trying (incorrectly) to get at. The 2X10 extension should play louder. However--the 500C is already capable so much "loundness" that that capability isn't so important. I guess I am trying to say go for the right sound with your extension choice---not with which one could be louder. Does this even make sense?
