Fender Rumble Club

What do you guys think about the low wattage combos? I'm thinking about the Rumble 25, 1x8 combo. I have played 1x10 combos with around 40 watts before, and that is honestly overkill for what I need it for. I just want something that I can put next to my chair and practice on. When you guys say that the front end is different on the 25, is it just the mid control that you're referring to? Anyone actually used / compared the 25 to the 40?

I have! I bought a like new-in-box Rumble 25 dirt cheap and used it for a year as a practice amp that I left at my guitarist's house to use to work up new tunes. It was perfect for that, and sounded much better than it's $99 full retail price would lead one to believe. Still the Rumble 40 is leaps & bounds better. Yes it is worth the 100% higher price. It has the very same front end as the Rumble 500. That is something special. Also the 10" woofer is much better than the 8" woofer in the Rumble 25. The Rumble 40 is just an inch larger in each dimension than the Rumble 25, and weighs 3 pounds less at 18 pounds vs 21. If $$$ is not an issue, buy the Rumble 40 over the 25.

That's pretty much all you need to say about the R40.

My opinion on the two: Pound for pound, the 40 has a really big sound that isn't there on the 25. We talk about ways to make it less boomy. A little minus on the bass and a little plus on the low mid tames it for me but some folks like to add some material to the inside of the cab. So, yeah, the four-band EQ plus the OD raise this unit beyond expectations. The direct out makes it suitable for any stage. You can jam at home with the 25 but I think the 40 is bare minimum for a band unless it's acoustic guitars or something like that.

I survived for another Glorious Fender Friday!

The Rumble 25 is excellent for your purpose. I use my 25 for bedroom practice. The only advantage to the 40 is the preamp section is the same as the larger amps. But, I think the 25 is perfect.

Guys, I could use some advice. Unfortunately site search can't handle the terms I need to look for (too short), and there's a lot of information in this thread to search.

I'm looking for a new small combo to be used as reinforcement for a five string ABG at practices and for up to a small acoustic coffee shop gig with unamplified guitars and a cajon. I've been using my G-K MicroBass, but it's serious overkill for what I need.

How do the little Rumble 15 and 25 do with a low B?

Ordered up the 210 extension cab to go with my 500 I got a couple months ago, should be here Monday. Waited until Musician's Friend had another 15% off sale (on now) and added the points off I got from the original purchase of the combo. Final price $262 delivered to my door (off the $350 list price). Bought the 500 combo on an earlier 15% off sale and had a bunch of points from a PA sub I'd purchased previously. So basically a brand new Rumble 500 stack 500 watts with 4-10's, under $570 total investment. That's what I call Bang-For-The-Buck.

I paid more than that just for the combo!! Nice deal!
