Fender Rumble Club

Quick question for folks:
I have a Rumble 500 head/210 cabinet rig i gig with....signal chain is as follows
P-Bass=>Diamond Compressor=>500 Head
Ive been getting a real snarly, grindy almost tube like breakup tone(I keep the OD off), very Tim Bogert/70's Tube sounding. I really dig it, but am wondering if I could be overdriving something, like the input(gain is usually at 9:00 or less)? My P bass is particularly grindy: maple FB, 62 p-ups and DR Lo-Riders, but with the tone knob at 50% or higher it has an almost slightly distorted edge to it when i dig in. Dont get me wrong, it sounds freakin awesome, I just want to make sure something's not being overdriven or "going out" on me.

You are pretty much describing my setup. What are you settings? I can get that tone and I like it.

Bass: Orig 62 p-ups, DR Nickel Lo-Riders
Rumble eq: Gain 9:00 or less, all presets off, OD off, Bass 9:30, Lo-mid 1-2:00, Hi-mid 2:00, Treble 10-11:00, master set as needed.
Cab: tweeter off
Diamond: Comp 8:00, eq 10:00(900), level set at 12:00
With this I get a snarling beast from H.E. double hockey sticks

Mine is Gain 10:00, Vintage on, all other buttons off, OD off, Bass 9:30, Lo-mid, hi-mid, treble all at 12:00, mater +/- 3:00. I'd have to hear yours to compare, but I think the pedal is giving you a bit more. I get the tubes on the edge sound and some growl, but I think part of the growl is the bass.

I was thinking that as well...with mid forward pickups and stings and boosting the mids on the eq....its super ganky:) My P bass is one of those that "has it" and coupled with the Rumble it may very well be the natural tone. i was just concerned that it could be too good to be true and i was possibly overdriving something:).

I have played several different basses through my 500c. It make me suspicious that the Rumble was specifically designed for the P. They work so well together.

I wonder how the overall volume would compare between a 500C+500 setup (500W going into 4 speakers) and a 500C+410 setup pushing 500W into 6 speakers so more surface area (although 4 speakers get a bit less power than the other 2).
You would have to measure the SPL from each cab to be sure, but I tend to doubt there would be much difference at all. The Rumble 410 getting the very same 250 watts as if you had twin 410's. The 210's in the combo getting the very same 250 watts as if you had a Rumble 210 cab. In the end, 25 yards (or meters) away in the audience there will be no preceptable/audible difference. The 410 will still be moving twice as much air with a bit better dispersion. This is why I much prefer a pair of 115's as there aren't any silly 10 inch arguments. ;)

Well, to create more arguments, Fender: so how about a nice 2x15 cab? Better yet, a 4x15! :)
Yes, it will be great for the Rumble Wall of Doom!! :D
