I am a huge fan of Buffalo '66, and it's great to see you on here. I'll never think of Heart of the Sunrise the same way after seeing your film! Awesome use of Moonchild as well!

I'm kind of floored by what I got though. I really dig the tone, fit and finish of this bass as is. With low action, pick, DR high beams, and volume cranked up, this thing snarls and barks like an angry dog.

I have seen yes 7 times and was able to meet the band in caimbridge ma. 1st show was boston garden in 1978, the going for the one tour, last show was the masterworks tour. Chris always played the rick except for a few occasions where he broke out the Lakeland. In the last few years they were doing an acoustic set, but im not sure what model acoustic chris was playing, my guess would be a martin?

Correct. He plays it on the “no hiss” live video,where the band does a short acoustic set.

As a huge Yes and Chris Squire fan, I always check out threads on Chris. Thanks to all for contributing. I don’t generally have much to contribute to expand the info, but as far as the slight derail about Lee Marvin, Mr. Marvin was a customer of mine at a little market called The Time Market in the 80’s. He would come in wearing jeans and a tee shirt. It usually looked like he had been doing yard work. He would buy cigarettes. I never let onto recognizing him. I thought he lived in the neighborhood (the “West University Neighborhood”) which is a number of miles from this house that usually gets the attention:

I wondered if perhaps he had a rental property or something near the market because I think he usually walked in. In any case, he was a nice guy.

One of my favorite memories of Chris is the two shows I caught on his last Yes tour. They played Tucson (!) one night and Mesa the next night. I went to both. They filmed the Mesa show (it is available). His vocals were some of my favorite Yes concert elements; the night in Tucson his big voice seemed even louder than usual. He scarcely needed a mic. In particular, the two tracks they played from “Heaven and Earth” featured his loudest vocals of the night. It still gives me shivers.

I am always amazed by how little agreement there is on forums about his equipment at different times. Perhaps more than most players, Chris showed that the hands were the most important part of his fabulous sound.

I still miss him so much. He was (IMO) the soul of the band. But his music lives on.
We are very fortunate.

And I sooooo wanna visit Vincent to see those basses!!

Well here is where this bass (as well as Chris') are very different. Neither pickup is in the same place as on a Jazz bass. In fact they're quite a bit forward. Here's a pic with my Squire Jag to illustrate the difference. Pickup placement is really everything sometimes. NOTE: Although the pickups appear to be in about the same locations, the bridge is further back on the Precision.
