Fender Studio Bass Club!

I bought a Super Twin fully intact, and recouped most of my initial investment by selling the combo chassis intact, minus the amp section... Then, made some amp repairs that were obvious, bought new power tubes, had a tech go thru it, and built my own headcase - it absolutely rocks thru my Bassman 115 Neo...View attachment 3744650
That must have been some deal..! They apparently have gone up in price quite a bit as of recently..

thanks for the input...I have the opportunity to buy a SB, I just have to see if the guy will come down on the price....right now he’s asking for $500 more than the priciest ST I’ve seen on the web but he said he is down to negotiate...I’m probably going to start off with building a single 1x15 and going from there..
SB or ST (non-reverb), as long as they’re converted to heads, are both as much of a muchness. EQ points are different but apparently it’s no biggy. I use the eq on mine to boost the mids/low mids for a more “SVT” tone.

Yep, this is the way to go! It’s awesome that Fender are making such great lightweight cabs that can match the SB/SB and vastly improve the performance. I was definitely going for a Pro Neo 410 until I tried the Bergantino.

Hey Chickenwheels, I have run my Studio Bass into an NV212t in my home studio. Sounded great in there, as expected, but I have not had the opportunity to use the SB/NV212t on a gig yet. IMO/IME the SB gets along with sealed cabs really well. I loved it thru a Berg NV610 while I had that cab and now that the NV212t has replaced my NV610, I'll have to use it on a gig, but I just haven't done that yet. Of course, as my March gigs are cancelling left and right, it may be a while before I get the chance.:(

Would you guys mind telling me what is a reasonable price to pay for a studio head in a mojo cab?

I almost bought a Studio Bass combo...for $600 two years ago....I am so mad I let it go

i saw a Super Twin combo at a pawn shop for $500 or 700 at a Pawn shop advertised...but twice drove and could not find the store

Now I see a Studio bass head in mojotone cab...but the guy is asking over $1300

Please be aware these are Canadian prices

Is the NV212 really a good replacement for the NV610?
IMO/IME, tonewise the NV212t is very close to the NV610 .. perhaps a bit more native low end voice, but very close.
volumewise, the NV212t provides plenty of volume for my needs. Prior to picking up the NV212t, I did most of my gigs with a CN212 with no volume limit issues at all and I have not had any volume issues using the NV212t .. even though it is an 8ohm cab.
The NV610 was just more cab than I needed which is the only reason I sold it off.

Wow...inflation is real...I tracked down a SB combo where the seller wants almost as much (in US $) ...it seems like the best way to go versus doing all the up front work to convert a Super Twin...glad this thread came back to life...

Thank you!
A few weeks ago I went and tried a few Berg cabs with my SB and GK. I was keen on the NV 212t...until I tried the HDN410. I was blown away by the tone and volume of the HDN410 so that was it for me. I also tried an HG410 but HDN410 had just floored me. Lighter than one TL606, louder than two. And a great sound, especially with the SB. Loads of headroom with the high sensitivity, too.
Anyway, I found a good deal on a used CN410 and bought it because it was pretty much the same as the HDN in performance and tone...and even smaller and lighter in size.
I still dig my EVs but the Berg is an incredible single-cab option, especially with the SB.
I used to use a sealed Ampeg but I guess I’ve just gone off that sound atm. Oh well.
Sorry to hear about your gigs. I’ve lost gigs, too. Tough time for all.
Hope I don’t run out of toilet paper...

At last, I’m in.....

Has anyone ever compared the Studio Bass to the Bassman Ten? I'm wondering wether the Studio Bass, in it's original combo with just the EV 15", would be considerably louder than the Bassman Ten. The SB obviously has much more power available than the BT, 200w vs. 50w, but only sports the 1x15 speaker configuration vs. 4x10 configuration in the Bassman Ten.

I'm currently using a BT and while it's sounds great, it sometimes lacks a little bit of headroom. Since I really dig the combo-format, I'm pondering swapping speakers in the Bassman Ten or upgrading to the Studio Bass.
