I just received this bass last week and thought I would give a quick review.

Mines a 2023 Arctic White swapped out pickguard to black and black screws, small subtle touch

Bass was plecked by previous owner. I had my setup guy adj neck etc , intonate to my playing style.

She got her 1st play this Sunday morning . The Outfront Sound Eng absolutely was floored.

I ran IEM into a Radial Firefly and w little eq pulled out a great tone. I owned a previous Elite Jazz and loved everything but the preamp.

I can tell Fender did a great job on this improvement.

Fit and finish were very on par.

I know tone is very subjective to each of us but these basses are a great player w proper setup.

I got mine about 4 years ago. Delivers every time. I do believe that Fender did something special with the Ultra Preamp. I use both passive and active mode for my cover band. it growls like the best of them. Neck is spectacular. I liked the series so much that I got the 4 string version, but i could not gel with the neck. so I sold it. but the 5 string Jazz will always be on my side.

I never liked a Fender until I purchased a Ultra 5JJ. Absolutely floored with it and have played it where I played my Boutique basses that cost 2-4 times the cost. Tone and playability just kills and even surpassed the big boys I've owned. I love these basses.

I've got a slightly older Fender deluxe J5. Great bass. I had Nordstrand reshape the neck a bit and put in a fairly simple preamp and pickups. But! It started out a good bass. The changes just made it a great working bass. A good bass can usually be made to be better. Enjoy your new acquisition.
