Fender Warranty Work?

I bought a new MIM Deluxe active Jazz V for $599 on clearance and discovered a dead pole on the vintage noiseless neck pickup at the E string. No magnetism at all and no noise when touching an allen wrench to it. Other poles are fine on the pickup though.

I am within the 30 day return policy, and am wondering who has had experiences, good or bad with warranty issues on their Fenders. This is my first Fender...and I love the feel of this Jazz. I am trying to decide whether to return, or have serviced.

The place will probubly have you send it back. Unless you have a Fender dealer in your area to install the pickup for you... I doubt Fender will allow you to install it yourself with out an inspection.

Our local Fender repair shop never seems to have arguments with Fender about repair authorization, even for grey area items like neck relief. They do sometimes have issues with the factory giving aprroval and/or shipping parts in a timely manner. Sometimes as long a 4 weeks.

Thanks for the info people... I will contact them today and see what the deal is. I can wait for parts as long as I don't have to ship my bass away. I would like a trusted authorized service place to do the work locally, for my peace of mind.

As long as you have an authorized service center in your area you should be fine. Just take it there with the receipt.
