Fender's "Sonic Blue" Basses

I own the new Mustang P/J in "Sonic Blue" It looks like Olympic White on most stage lighting as well as natural light. Below are pics, first without the flash and second with

Question; Does that case fit it snug enough? If so what case is it.

I'm definitely going to need a hard case when I pick one up

Here's one I used to own that I dearly miss. 1963 Jazz:

Squier MusicMaster Vista Club

Here's my Sonic Blue. It's a Squier Vista Musicmaster bass. The picture is a bit more vibrant than real life. The bass also has a way of looking very sea foam green at times. FYI, the one on the right is shell pink but looks very much peachy in person. Clicking the link will bring you to more pics which show just how green it can look.

I think the mint green PG tends to take people's eyes off the actual Sonic Blue color and kind of skews what people are actually seeing. Throw a white guard on either of Fenders current Sonic offerings and it makes the blue pop more, IMO. Don't get me wrong, I love mint guards but I think white/parchment is great with sonic and brings out the blue more. It also depends on the brand guard. Fenders mint green has gotten greener over the years, whereas in the past it was a little more subtle.

I have it temporarily in an SKB 44 and no it doesn't fit well. I ordered the Fender Mustang case but it set me back $150
I'll share what I recently posted over on the Squier MusicMaster Vista Club page.

Basically, I slightly modified an SKB Jaguar/Jazzmaster guitar case to fit my bass. Your Mustang should be the same shape as my MM bass. The bummer, though, is the sale price I mentioned is no longer valid. But it's still $121, which is cheaper than everywhere else. The post above details the process.

This is EXACTLY what I meant when I posted this earlier... looks great both ways! I'm thinking of getting one in sonic blue and replacing the guard with a dark tort.

"Truth of the matter is, the lighting can really affect a color like sonic blue or surf green. I have a surf green bass that looks quite different depending on what room it's in and how bright the sun outside is. There are photos of sonic blue AVRIs on TB that you'd swear are olympic white."
