FIFA World Cup 2014

BAH!!!!

I agree there are other sports that require a lot of skill, but not like futebol. You used rugby as an example but are there short, skinny rugby players who are world class or even professional? The game requires size and strength.
Nah, sorry it's just wrong, football isn't the exclusive pinnacle of skill in team sports, I don't think one team sport is necessarily more skill demanding than others.
Different sports require different skills and physical attributes, doesn't mean football needs more or us the most skillfull team sport.
YMMV.

We have a different perspective. I still say, show me another team sport where a couple of slow, skinny, short guys like Iniesta and Xavi can be two of the best players in the world. That says something about the nature of the sport itself.

Likewise some of the biggest stars in other team sports are fat, lumbering and slow (not talking about American Football) physique is no determinant of skill..certain positions in certain team sports lend themselves to different physiques. Skill is a different factor.
Agree to differ. :)

Agreed, that's why the elite footballers have such diverse physiques as Lionel Messi, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Mathieu Valbuena, and Vincent Kompany. It's a game of skill. :D

Watch your words. Who saved your asses in dubya dubya two?

We're going home but we went further than England.

As did Algeria, Greece and Switzerland. Doesn't mean they are suddenly international forces to be reckoned with.

Spain and Italy also went home early, but I'll take La Liga and Serie A over the MLS every time.

The English national side were dire, full stop. But the English game is the envy of the world.

Peter Stringer - 5'7, 160lbs - Bath (Pro), Ireland & Barbarians (International)
Dan Robson - 5'7, 165lbs - Glouster (Pro), England/Saxons (International)
Greg Laidlaw - 5'9, 170lbs- Gloucester (Pro), Scotland (International)
Rhodri Williams - 5'9, 175lbs - Scarlets (Pro), Wales (International)
Shane Williams - 5'7, 175lbs - Ospreys (Pro), Wales & Lions (International) (ret)
Aaron Smith - 5'7, 180lbs - Highlanders (Pro), All Blacks (International)
Chris Cusiter - 5'10, 185lbs - Sale Sharks (Pro), Scotland & Lions (International)

And of course Chris Paterson, 6'0, 175lbs who played Pro with Edinburgh and Gloucester, international for Scotland 109 times. On the taller side of the list, but not a built character.

Maybe they aren't tiny, but they aren't exactly brick s**thouses.

Oh. My bad. In my little experience seeing rugby on television it looked like they were all big bodybuilder types.
