FIFA World Cup 2014

In the real world, Arsenal have signed Barcelona's Chilean striker Alexis Sanchez. :D
This will be a far, far better transfer than last season's big signing for ya'll. I know he's a winger for Barca, but I would be surprised to see him play as a striker for ya'll like he does for Chile, and did for Udinese. Unless Wenger rolls up Loic Remy.

Also, funding the mega bawbag's exit from the Premiership is a nice bonus.

Excellent news, he's just what they need. Plus they've recalled the young Costa Rican striker, Joel Campbell as well. That's a good start, as they're seriously deficient when it comes to strikers.

Apparently there's also talk of another trade with Barcelona - Messi for Sanogo+a $1250 voucher to Ikea. I think that's a fair deal; the Barca squad will be able to buy themselves a new bed each, and they'll also get valuable training in trying to put together a piece of Ikea furniture. If a player can do that, he can do anything!! It's just rumour at this stage, but many Barca players have been spotted with hex keys and very confused looks on their faces.

Well my least favorite diver is gone. Goodbye, Netherlands. Hope you find a nice soft place to flop. One of Robben's big flops cost him a pretty good shot on goal. Poetic justice that his theatrics will go home empty. No Oscar and no World Cup. Now disappear and don't come back in four years, please.

I thought Robben was one of the few players who was worth watching yesterday.

TBOT World Cup Prediction Game

OK lads nearly there - got most scores in now still missing the following:

Dangnewt (3/4th place match score needed.)
Revolver
jrthe bassguy
Matante

Get them in lads could be the difference between ending up as Germany or Brazil! :)
(PM's remember please!)

For the sake of integrity, I will post my own predictions here so that they are up in advance:
Brazil 1-2 Holland
Germany 3-1 Argentina

I love the story line for the Final - the team that has played the best team football versus the team with the world's best footballer leading it. I hope it is a good game, but either team would be a worthy champion for what has been a fantastic World Cup overall. The US television networks covering the event have lucked out with how interesting the games and storylines have been. When I was a kid, only old highlights would be shown on TV; the first live final wasn't televised in English until 1982 (1970 for Spanish-language TV) - it wasn't until 1998 that all matches were televised. How does the saying go - if you have them by the eyeballs, their hearts and feet will follow.

I know most of this forum despises Liverpool with or without Suarez, but I feel my conscience is a little cleaner now that he's gone.

Get ready for some moneyball, England. It's what the Fenway Sports Group specializes in.

They had the best chance they'll ever have last season.

And then steeeeeeevie geeeeee fell on his arse and gave City the title.
