Final Sabbath

I love the Sabbath purple tolex on his cabs!

That P bass looks different than this one, which appears to be natural finish.

In his autobiography he says that he exchanged his first p-bass for another model (I forgot which one). It was a sanded p-bass he bought used anf sounded wonderfull (so most likely the one on the picture). It is the only bass he played live (or on an album? Or both?) which he does not own any more, and regrets it. Which is the reason why he never parted with a bass again . He says he now owns around 80 basses, mostly custom Lakland.

Edit: I quickly checked the autobio; he first played on a Höfner loaned to him by Peter Brant, bassist for the Ruums. (Page 49) Then he traded his Telecaster for his first bass, the Fender Precision Bass on the picture. He traded it later for a new bass, but does not say which one. It is indeed the only bass he played at gigs which he does not own any more. (Page 53). For the record, the number of basses he owns is page 261. I am sure he talks about his first bass somewhere else in the book but I just finished it and am too lazy too read it again :-D Back to Ozzy's autobio ;-)
