Guess who's got a big hug waitin' for you when I get into Orlando next weekend, big guy....

Haley. :D Best wishes bud, I'm glad you're happy. I can't imagine how tough it's been, but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger (I do believe you told me that quite awhile back...thanks).

Hey Gard, do you need a band for the divorce party?

That'd be a heck of a commute Pete, but if you & your band are willing to make the trip, I'll throw the party! ;)

Guys, thanks for all the good words, this "place" and the good people that populate it has been my sanity and salvation over the past year. I thank you all profusely, words cannot convey my gratitude to you all.

I'm still a bit weirded out right now, not happy, somewhat sad, mostly just relieved.

I wish I could take the time right now to individually thank everyone that posted, but I'm at work (life doesn't stop!), and then I'm off to rehearsal (that "project" that the ombudsman mentioned). I will try to be more specific later....and the girlfriend wants me to come by after that, so I may not be online later.

I'm sorry to hear that you weren't able to work things out, Gard. However, you have a lot to offer someone special and if your ex-wife doesn't want to be that person, then she's the one missing out. You know the TalkBass community is here for you and if you ever need to vent, there are plenty of us who are happy to listen.

All the best, Gard.

I'm truly glad the clouds are gone, Gard, and that things are looking up for you.

A new girlfriend? I need say no more. ;)

So, let me know when you'll be coming my way again, we could hit a few jazz clubs. And I'll let you know if/when I'm coming your way. I have friend on Marco Island, that'll let me use his place when he's not there.

Remember that Star Trek episode? FESTIVAL, FESTIVAL !!! :D

Whatever project you're starting, I know it'll succeeed with you on bass. ;)

Hope to see you soon, my brother.

All the best.

Mike

Hi Gard,

That's tough man. Sorry to hear that things couldn't be worked out, but now that it's official it must feel like a weight off your shoulders. Things can only look up now.

I've no direct personal experience to back this up, but my parents both felt much happier once the official process was all done with. For what it's worth.

Now go forth and do as us single folk do! (what is that, anyway? :ninja: )

Congrats Gard, glad to hear life is moving along for you.

There is NO good way to end a relationship, but what she did was probably one of the WORST ways she could of possibly handled it. That was just evil, and to that I say.....good riddance. Find someone who is respectful, and worthy of your time and space.

Gard, if it means anything...I went through the same thing a while back.

And I am now married to a wonderful woman (who had three kids...well, WE now have three kids, two of which want to play also). :)

Best part is, while my ex-wife never understood my desire to play music, my current (last, and forever) wife, told me when I thought about quitting playing bass for good this past year..."Stop playing and I will kick your ass! It's a part of who you are, you can't just stop playing...if you do you'll never be happy! I WANT you to play!!!"

Needless to say, having a good woman supporting you in your endeavor to play music is a wonderful thing!

I understand completely what you went, and are going, through. Best wishes and I hope you have someone as supportive in your life as I do in mine. Good luck to ya!!! :)
