Double Bass Finally.... Bottom end... yay

I just added a Wizzy 12 to my DPA / Bass max / EDB2 / Clarus 1 series 3 / Wizzy 10 rig and it has really hit the spot. First gig was outdoor (only with dpa.. no bass max) and for the first time the guitarist was telling me to turn down... hugely satisfying.... Nice bottom end with lots of definition both arco and pizz. Couple of gigs in and I am really loving my sound. Sure I have to carry another piece of gear but its worth it. Last gig I did just with the 12, it was ok but the 10 added with it seems to provide a bit of the clarity, more mids.

The DPA 4099B is certianly a well thought out microphone for live performance. I sold mine last year, as I had purchased a pair of Remic's and found them

beter suited to my Mirecourt Bass, the Grace Designs Felix and a MAS 1/8, but I certianly loved the ease of mounting and removing the DPA and it's sound.

The Remic Green 5400LB has a fuller sound on my bass FOH than the DPA did. I still haven't found anything that works as well as the Ehrlund EAP into

the Grace Felix, for isolation, feedback resistance, and volume, but I know that isn't the case for many of the folks who tried the EAP. Just my individual

preference.

I also have a Wizzy 10 and a Wizzy 12. The 12 generally sounds better, but the 10 is great for one trip from the car and sounds very good for most things I need for it to. I occasionally pair them, but not that often, because it just isn't necessary.

I was thinking about selling my 10 and getting a second 12, because it seems like they'd be a better match when I did pair them. Maybe I should try the 10/12 pairing more often, though before I do.
