Finally Getting Nordstrands For Lakie 55-94

Justin @ The Bass Exchange has been trying to get a hold of someone from Nordstrand since Friday so that he can order them for me. As soon as they return his phone call, they will be on their way! I'm pumped. From what you have described, it sounds as though the 55-94/Nordstrand combo is a true "musicman meets jazz" hybrid.
FYI, Brian at bestbassgear.com will ship same day....

The back PU is 'more' MMish than the Bart, but is hampered by the position it's in....back from the sweet spot. Also, the Nord is smoother in the upper mids than the MM PU, so it isn't as aggressive.

Correct....back coil/both in parallel/front coil. I'm thinking of trying to get a 'both in series' position as well.

OK, sorry for all the questions. I am thinking of putting a pickup set in my web shopping cart for guys with this bass so they didn't have to guess what was needed. It sounds like you can go either 2-Coil or 4-Coil though. It's just that with the 4-Coil you would still be noiseless when running in single coil mode. Do I have that right?

BTW, I would think having the option to series the coils would be very useful. That's not in the stock wiring?

I guess I should go look up the wiring diagram and stop wasting your time and bandwidth with all these questions!! :D

Yes, 2 or 4-coil works. In the Lakland application it makes more sense to go 4-coil to fully utilize the stock wiring and stay humbucking.

The series option is a good one that isn't available with stock wiring. I'm working on a way to get all 4 options.....just haven't figured it out yet!

Argh! I can't wait :) I may end up travelling for work, and might not be able to get this done for a couple of weeks. That will be one very looooong business trip.
Aw man, I know how you feel. I've been there many times with gear. I'm gonna try to snag my GF's camera and get a pic up to tide you over. There are 20 polepieces.....that's a big change from 'none'.

What exactly do you mean by hi-fi? Not a lot of high end?

Also, I went with the 4 coil for the MM pickup, so that the selector switch would work in a similar way to how it works with the bartolinis.

i really prefeer the dual coils quads are great for versatility but dual have better output and sound for my opinion

nordstrand´s are more traditional sounding they are great powered on the low-mids bartolini CX or CB
or delano are more hi-fi more acentuatted on the high-mids
