We are truly a garage band...2 car. For practice, I've been asking the band to line up all speakers, cabs, combos at the far end of the garage and point them in towards us rather than the rig-behind-the-musician setup, with everything and everybody pointed outwards.
My reasoning was, rather than having the music going from behind our backs to straight out the garage doors, all the music (other than the drums, due to space) would be pointed towards us so we all could hear everyone more clearly.
And since we don't use the monitor for practice (we only have one for live gigs anyway), it just made sense to me. Unfortunately, I've not had success selling my idea in the past.
Today they caved in and tried it my way. It made a huge difference. Everybody turned down once we got started. The mix was better. The music was less muddy. We also learned that we didn't do some things as well as we thought
, and some other things sounded better than what we thought. 
Just wondering if anyone else does a setup like this during practice? Would there be any negatives doing it this way?
