My mom grew up in Detroit and she used to party with Jamerson. She had to dump him because he would not shut up about the Tort. She has since realized that she was way too intolerant.
With age, she can now talk more about her thing with James. Apparently JJ was of the opinion that the TORT was second only to the ashtray in responsibility for not just the bass sound but of Motown's great success! "Then why didn't JJ talk to her about ashtrays, but talked about Tort so much" you might ask. Well, because unlike Tort, ashtray is a modest Lord (and his beotch ass should be, he knows what's up-editor) and Jamerson simply preferred to not use his Lord's name in vain. Remember, this was before science was invented so forgive JJ for mistaking a mere prophet for the Lord Tort. Also, of course, JJ drank an aweful lot sometimes. Especially when my mom was around. Go ahead, you try taking her sober. But I digress... Rest assured, James DID hold the Tort above flats. End of story.
I know it will be tempting for some of y'all to start yappin about ashtrays and flats, (and probably even foam mutes) now, but remember.... only incidentals to TORT are allowed here and they should be kept to a minimum. This is not for me, it is for the common good of Tort lovers.
