Finally played a Fender Meteora

This is a very nice bass. I hope it is successful because it could a platform for some very nice variations in the future, especially a five string. I love the Jazz neck and those double J pickups!:bassist::thumbsup:

It's nice to see them continue trying new things, and I hope it's successful for them!

What did you like about it? What wasn't so nice about it? (Sorry - I haven't watched the video yet).

The neck was great if you like Jazz necks. The fit and finish was very nice. Fender has been working on making the Player’s series basses something approaching Skyline quality but cheaper (probably because of higher production levels.) The electronics are quiet and the pickups sound great. I did not fiddle with the preamp, but I am pretty sure it is the same as the other active Player’s Series basses.

I own the guitar version and love it. I know this isn't a direct comparison, but there's no neck dive on the guitar.

It's a stunning-looking guitar in person, so I imagine the bass is just as attractive. How did you like the pickups? My main complaint with the guitar is that the neck pickup is kind of muddy. But based on this video, it sounds like the bass pickups are nice and punchy.

Off topic comment inspired by your avatar - Fugazi is one of my favorite bands ever and I love End Hits. Fantastic album.

Isn't that essentially a Dimension in a different dress? Don't get me wrong, I think that the Dimension is the best bass Fender has ever made and own three of them. They must have never caught on with the buying public though because Fender fairly quickly discontinued them, which I suspect may also be the the fate of the Meteora.

I was going through a Rumble 200, and that probably helped.

The Dimensions were much more like Stingrays than the Meteora which uses the double pickup that Fender has used on basses going back to the Roscoe Beck and original Precision Deluxe.

The body shape reminds me of cheap '60s Japanese basses like Teisco and Guyatone
