Finding a small gig amp with clean tone.

I'm new to bass; I recently fell in love with and picked up a highway one p-bass, its incredible to me. About the same time my best friend started to take guitar seriously, so we've decided to start taking it seriously.

I've played on a small variety of amps and honestly I can't find a good sounding amp that isn't either really expensive or really low wattage.

Example;
At my local store, theres a B100R used for 550. Obviously thats too much money, but it sounds amazing. Even my searching online can't get one for cheaper than 350-400, a lot of money for a young lad my age.

But then you have loud, ****** amps like Behringer Ultrabasses.

My favor I'm asking is simply that, if anyone knows, to point me in the direction of a decent amp for cleaner, jazzy/bluesy (think Opeth; Morningrise) that isn't 35 watts or 500 dollars.

edit; sorry for the language there.

Well, my recommendation is to find a used Nemesis RS210 combo amp in good condition. 250 watts RMS that sounds more like 300-350 watts, deep clean tone, very nice features - and you can find one in the range of about $250 - $350. Worth every penny... :hmm:

That's good...the small loud gear that sounds good is usually pretty expensive, but those combos are surprisingly good for the money. But there are a lot of 100-200w combos on the used market that sound good and cost less than $300. Under no circumstances would I get a Behringer, though.
