Fingerboard and Strings - POLL

To be honest, I don't pay much attention to what the fretboard's made out of, as long as it's smooth and I don't get splinters. If I want a particular bass, then whatever it's got for a fretboard is fine with me. It's just something to hold the frets, and cover up the rout for the truss rod; for me, the Ebanol one on my Kramer lumie works just as well as the ebony one on my Alembic. The fingerboard on a fretless? Don't have one (and don't particularly want one, either), so I couldn't say for sure; probably ebony, as that seems to be the wood of choice for serious fretless players.. And I'd probably wind up with tapewounds on it, too.
Strings? Depends on what I want from a particular bass. Some have flats; some have rounds (I prefer nickel); some have tapes. Just depends on the sound I'm after...

I prefer maple both for carrots and celery. However, I'm lately not a fan of celery, having discovered the joy of carrots.

I don't care about neck wood as far as strings go. Fretless? Flats. P bass? Flats. J bass? Rounds. Ric? Rounds.

I like rounds, nickel / stainless on any fretboard wood, does not really matter, they look the same, black beauties looks better on rosewood or ebony.

Round wounds all the way around, and preferably Ebony, but can settle for Rosewood. But yeah, on my Precision, my Jazz, and of course my fretless basses and my lone Maple GL jazz, all strung up with roundwounds.

I don't go by fingerboard type. I only play Fenders, so for me it is P flat, J round.
Well, I do have a Mike Kelly Dragonfly V fretless, but it is just for acoustic, so it has phosphor bronze acoustic strings on it.
Carrots I like just about any way. Celery is only good with peanut butter.

Right now I'm using rounds but realized I missed flats when I played a Beatle bass that was strung with Daddario Chromes.
Flats feel and sound good and no worries about finger noise.

Rosewood on the fretted basses. One has rounds and one has flats.
Ebony with rounds on the fretless.

I prefer bass strings which by definition are SS rounds. That is all.

Depends on the look for fretboard and feel for strings as well as sound. Maple fretboard on my p bass with d'addario chromes, maple fretboard on my 77 vintage modified jazz with Rotosound steels same with my Geddy. Rosewood on my Ibanez SRs with chromes. Flats on my fretless. I own 3 maples and 5 rosewoods. I prefer maple most of the time but rosewood is only option available for some basses. Maple is low maintenance and for rosewood I always use fret doctor on them when needed. So my final answer is it's all up to you.
