Hello again everyone! Back again with my P Bass I picked up for a great deal the other day. I was able to get some better photos of the finish on the back of the neck and was hoping to get your take on it.
The only real flaws on the bass are some finish checking on the back of the neck. Was this a common finish flaw on the 2001 era basses? Can't really feel the checking on my hand anyway so it doesn't bother me I just haven't seen this kind of finish flaw on a instrument from this era.
The bass was used heavily for gigs in a cold climate so it's very likely it was brought from cold to warm environments pretty frequently, I'm guessing there's a large possibility that could cause the checking as well.
