firepod problems - no sound output!

i posted this over in the presonus forums...maybe you guys could help. too...thanks!


first of all, i'm using vista...i'm using adobe audition as my sequencer, and it was working yesterday - kind of...and even this morning!

i set up my computer a couple weeks ago, and i've been enjoying listening to some stuff using my firepod as the sound output device...i set it up this morning for playback through the CUE/MIX line out on the back to an external poweramp and some cabs...worked great...i was able to hear my bass through the cab, as well as the file that i imported into track 1 simaltaneously...when i tried to record my bass, though, i got nothing...i fiddled around with the settings (device order in the options menu of adobe), and now nothing is working at all...i've uninstalled and reinstalled both the firepod and adobe, but still to no avail...nothing plays on windows media player, either, but if i play something and open the sounds menu, i do see the bar rising and falling...just no output from the speakers, pretty ,uch...everything is plugged in properly...i doublechecked...no change from when it was working until when it was not working except my screwing with some settings...one thing of note i did notive...when i click on the sounds icon and go to 'playback' or 'recording' devices, it no longer says 'line 1' 'line 2' , etc...it says 'lineout' for all of the outputs...same thing with the recording devices...pretty lost here...even is there were a 'restore default settings option' that might help...sorry if this was posted before, but i went back about seventeen pages and couldn't find a problem similar to mine...thanks, guys

Well there's your problem!!!


oh and maybe you didn't press the right buttons on the recording interface? At first when I got an M-audio delta 1010 recording interface, I had to make sure it was set to +4 db on the two outs I was using to hear anything outta my speakers. I then also realized that my Alesis multimix 8 USB worked better as a sound output, while the 1010 was better for input. Perhaps you should use something else to output, like maybe the original soundcard, or some other piece of equipment you have connected to it.

MAJOR EDIT: I just realized, check your soundcard settings under control panel. You can have one thing set as the out for windows, but something else set as the out for cubase or n-track or some other piece of equipment. Make sure it's set to out the firepod if you want all windows sounds to come outta the firepod.
