First bass build - piezo fretless

I read the entire post. Certainly, your experience in prototyping payed off here. I encounter a lot of people wanting to build a guitar and with some of them, I can tell right away that they're not going to make it because they don't respect that there is a lot to know and figure out. Sometimes I'm surprised by a decent result. With others you can tell that they're going to give a good try and are willing to understand what makes an instrument work. Putting a finish on a guitar is the hardest part for me too. I like lacquer finishes but damn they're a lot of work.
Your bass is really one of a kind and I hope its enjoyable to play

As promised, here's a sound clip. Recorded using a direct input. I put a tiny bit of compression on these files, and I cut some of the frequencies below 20 hz, as well as the frequencies above 10,000 hz.

I can be a pretty heavy-handed player, and the piezo is not very forgiving when it comes to that sort of thing. I might adjust my technique a bit for this bass, or just lower the gain on the preamp.
