First bass in 6 years

Thanks again everyone for all the kind words, it's truly appreciated. Yeah, I wasn't really wanting to go for a crazy design or anything too off the wall. I do like exotic woods and innovative designs, but being that this is the first bass I've built in awhile, I didn't want to go overboard. Plus as I've mentioned earlier, it's all extra wood and parts so I don't want to dump a bunch of money into this thing. I would love to go with some hipshot hardware and maybe some Nordies and a nice little preamp, but money is a little too tight. I have a pickup winder that is just about ready to go, just need to hook up the counter. It resembles Tdogg's in it's crudeness:), but it should do the trick. I have some other design ideas for the next build, but that probably won't be for awhile unless finances do a nice turnaround. Again, thanks for the compliments and I will post some more during the finishing process.

Thank you for the compliment Kevin, it means a lot. Sorry, but no updates, at least no pictures. I routed the control cavity and made the cover, drilled for the strap locks, and thats about it. I should finish all the sanding tomorrow and start applying the sealer and finish this week. As long as nothing comes up to pull me from this bass, then there should be a lot of progress by this weekend. I'll keep ya posted.

Well the bass is finally completed and I think that it sounds great if you like EMG's, and even if you don't, it still sounds good. I personally wanted to go with different pickups but I used what I had. For the finish I went with the minwax Polycrylic semi-gloss, but I brushed it on which will be the last time that happens ( what a pain). I did it out of convenience sake, but next time will definitely be sprayed. It turned out just fine, was just a pain getting even coverage. Thanks guys, the compliments are huge. Kevin, if you are serious about a custom order than feel free to pm me. I'm starting a new job tomorrow which will eat up alot of time, which is kinda why I wanted to finish this one up this weekend. I'm definitely gonna keep up the building and designing though, just need to lock into the groove of work and see where my free time lies. I have a lot of ideas floating around already though. Hopefully I can get my pickup winder up and running soon and add a whole new aspect to the custom building. Anyway, thanks again.
