First Build (fingers crossed)

More progress! Unfortunately, I didn't do my normal stop-and-take-a-photo-og-clamps-and-glue, but I did get a pic of the drop top after an 80 grit, quick, knock-down. Then wiped it to bring out the color.

Thank you. I appreciate the compliments. And again, I have been slacking on updates, so here we go. After more sanding and shaping (that's really all I've done/had time to do since the last update)

These are after 120 grit. Still quite a ways to go:

Oh, yeah. I slotted the frets. I hate the way my work light makes them look in the pics. It comes from the side and the shadows in the pics make it look like they're all whacked out. They are not, however.

Pic of the back:

I really wish the camera didn't make the fret slots look SO BAD. It's nearly embarrassing. I take that back. It is embarrassing. For whatever reason, my phone's camera just doesn't like fret slots. It seems personal to me, like maybe my phone was stood up by a fretboard or something. I'm not sure. I just know it is misrepresenting the truth, so I will have a stern talking-to with it. Perhaps with some strong language. I shall shame my phone into doing its job properly!:rage:

Dude the back of that bass is beautiful!

Thank you! I think it really came out well. I appreciate the kind words.

That FB looks like the ocean lapping a beach while the body is a desert near sunset
WOW! I read your comment and looked back at the picture and I can't unsee the beach!

I had the EXACT same reaction. I always had loved that piece, but once @goodkingzod mentioned it, I CANNOT unsee it. If you look at it, you can even see another wave breaking out in the ocean a ways, with the wet sand going to drier sand toward the back. That is awesome that you saw that. It really makes looking at it that much more enjoyable.

And thank you to you all for the comments.

Hopefully my next updates won't take as long. However, I am living the rule to not rush ANYTHING, so I guess we shall see...
