So, after much toiling yesterday into yesterday night, I finally got this beast finished. I'm pretty happy with the result. It has a high fret at the 8th on the G string, but I haven't had any other problems. Intonation is spot on and it sounds glorious. Included it with the rest of my basses (except Frankenbass, it doesn't get pictured. Ever.). So, a little bass pron and my first build. Oh, and never mind the Tele leaning in the corner. That little blasphemer will be taking leave of the basses' premises.

That's a good point. But it's also one that I can never let anyone in the band know that I do. I need to keep up appearance as "the guy that does one instrument, marginally well." I let the real multi-instrumentalists have their fun. I have no qualm with acting like Lenny at practice. It makes things easier.
I also play mandolin in my band so I don't have that luxury of that attitude... I end up being the guy that has to answer all the "what chords would we play if we wanted to change the key from 'G' to 'A'?... I kinda wish I could just play dumb and say "all I do is root notes man... go ask the keyboardist"That's a good point. But it's also one that I can never let anyone in the band know that I do. I've actually played that card, kind of. I asked one of the guitarists what chord he was playing in a certain song, because it was sounding weird as hell. He said something like A-minor 7th. I shot back, "Dude, I play bass. I don't need all that other stuff. Is it an A or what?" Since then... not much gets asked from me. I play that "one-note instrument." Mission: Accomplished.
