I was actually talking about the 2nd pic in your first post - have a look, it's a fun illusion.
The j-bass one is the neck pickup - that's what I wanted; nothing in the bridge position. the P is just a regular P-bass pickup, from a yamaha RBX-something. I'll probably move it ahead a little bit.
The bridge P would be a bit trebly this way - however, a reverse P could be more balanced.
Can you make a temporary rig above the strings that'd hold the pickup inverted at the position where you want it? That way you could wire it, move it around and see for yourself which bridge-P position would work best.

Stealth, that's actually an awesome idea. I figured that a split in the bridge would be a lot less trebbly than a single in the bridge, so it'd kinda' even out. I figure I'll just move it out a tad just for safety-sake, anyways.
Everything routed - moved the P farther from the bridge, the neck single stayed the same. did a back-rout with vol-vol-tone-output in the same spacing as if the plate was there. put on the sealer just then, ready to do first coat of clear tomorrow!

I slightly counter-sunk the knobs, and put the output jack flush with the body... I think it's pretty dang nice.

oh, I do have a back cavity cover plate made, I just took it off because the wiring isn't actually completely done. I was playing this baby at a funky jam the other night with my mates and it sounds pretty great.
it looked like it had a control cover that was see-through, maybe acrilic. That would be pretty neat, actually.

Probably a bit late at this point, and it's a bunch of work...but, wood pickup covers/cavity cover (maybe even knobs) would personally be the difference between, "Whoa. What? Mine?! What? Awesome!!" and "Honey, here's a plane ticket, so you can go see the Newfie. I need me a few weeks alone with this fine lady, here..."
Or "Dad! Mom's wicked pissed. Her feet were cold all night, since you slept on the couch with the bass again." "Okay, okay! Fine! I'll go get her a damn dog..."

Really, really cool stuff. I love how it turned out. And I agree wholeheartedly about what taphappy suggests. Wooden pickup covers would be epic.
