Double Bass first EUB 4 string or 5

Just looking for advice/opinions.

I've more or less decided on a NS NXT but here's the problem. I prefer the tuning on a 4 but prefer the string spacing on the 5. I think I am slightly favouring the 5. I had a 5 string EB for a number of years and never bonded with it. BTW I've played examples of both in two shops last week.

Thoughts?

Well, the string spacing on a 4-string (and probably 5-string) NS is considerably larger than most 4-string EBs. However, it's an entirely different animal of an instrument with different style of playing, so the preferences don't really translate between the two. If you prefer the tuning of the 4-string, I'd recommend that - you'll have to relearn a lot of plucking technique anyway.
