Too bad I am only 17 so no whiskey! I actually plan to do a lot of audience interaction, and I am singing some songs, so I cant stare at my hand anyways! Haha
You did your first gig - AWESOME! Now that's done. It keeps getting better.
In fact, the more fun you have, the better it gets...
Don't fret the solo - your solo is never as interesting to your audience as it is to you... If you felt good about it, that's the key thing.
My first show was a punk gig and I barely knew any of the songs. Heck, I played the verse during the chorus of one song, BUT IT FIT.
You just gotta feel comfortable. If you're in a band thats not a "bar band" then honestly, pump some tunes and rock out to it. Like air guitar, just with your bass. Don't even try to play. I did that and many of my friends say my stage presence is very good considering how long I've been playing shows, which is less than half a year.
Just relax and have fun, that's the most important thing. Remember that you will make mistakes even after your 100th gig, but you should just brush them off and take them away as a learning experience.
I'm going to play my third gig, after not gigging for a year because of my military service, etc.
It's going to be a huge tribute show to the famous russian rock band Kino. It'll include 12 Kino songs and 4 of our original songs. We expect it to be 2 hours long.
