First Mark Bass Experience

Ok, none of the sales staff here have any knowledge of the new stuff, but the LMIII has peaked my interest. Hope it makes it way here soon.

Just because I'm lazy...do we have pricing on the LM 800 at this point or the tube version? I don't really care about the tube part, but I'd always be happy with more headroom with the 800, as I push loads of lows...but then my LMII hasn't failed me yet either.

$799 for the LMTube800. That's the only one I purchased, so don't know about the others They are obviously all a bit less.

I love my LMII. Cant believe the power and tone you can get with something so small. I started thinking about maybe picking up one of the hybrids they are coming out with, but I still have my Ampeg SVT-III (non pro hybrid) so I doubt Ill do that anytime soon.

I guess the cool thing about the new LM 'tube' models is, while by definition, the are hybrids, they are dual channel models. This means that you can 'turn the tube off', have it 100%, or any place in-between.

I like this a lot. Kind of like the Ashdown500 or EBS TD650. The inherent tone is clean, quick, solid state. You can blend a bit of tube in for character.

We shall see if the execution lives up to the VERY impressive specs on paper.

That doesn't sound unreasonable to me. One dollar per watt, plus a buck for the tube.

I'll wait for your review. I actually got rid of my 400+ for the LMII because there was too much harmonic distortion on the low. An extra few hundred watts to keep the lows clean does sound nice though.

I am close to buying either the Eden Nemesis rs700, or a Hartke LH1000 and now this MB 800 comes along?

Anybody have any perspectives, or experiences with either of the other 2?

I am a rock player, P-bass a 2x 10 and a 1 x 15. Many shows per-year.

Markbass is fantastic, I love my little Mark. I like the amp bright yellow and attractive

The tone sound very clean and transparent which i like Mark Bass stuff. Also the control on the amp is very simple but verstile.

Ryan had to look it up in their system. He was unaware also. All I can say is they are in the GC system and are 'orderable'. My guess is, since at least one GC has them (the one the OP visited), it shouldn't be too long before they start shipping when ordered. I wouldn't guess all GC's would get the full line of new products in, but it only will take a couple of days for them to get them in the stores once they show up in volume at the warehouse.

The 800w version is lighter than the 500w version. Granted the difference is minimal.

Not strange at all... the 800 tube is class D, the LMtube is a slightly heavier class A/B amp I again think that LMTube is going to be the big winner in the line, since that class A/B LM amp is just SWEET sounding. However, I couldn't resist the additional wattage, even though I had a bit of a love/hate relationship with the SD800. Peter indicated that the 800 watt class D amp in the LM800 and LM800tube was not identical to the original SD800, so I'll be interested to see if it's more similar to a louder and fatter F1. If that's the case, that will be 'I wanna slap my momma' good.

Ah, that makes sense. I didnt know the 800tube was class D. In that case I'd go for the 500w version. I dont need 800w (though they would be fun) and generally prefer the class A/b

+1 This has been my concern with the 800 spec, since my SD800 sounded SO different from my LMII (and even from the class D F1). But again, that wattage, size and general spec, I'm taking one for the team to see what it's all about

Hm...I just popped over to my local GC during my lunch break, and while their bass guy practically squealed with glee when I told him Markbass was coming out with a Little Mark with a tube pre, he wasn't able to find any reference to it in their system, nor was he able to put one on order. Guess I might be keeping that new LMII LE after all. : \

I had to literally spell it for the GC salesperson to find it in the system. It wouldn't come up as LMTube800, etc. The exact name Little Mark Tube or Little Mark Tube 800 had to be typed in exactly.

Trust me, it's in the system
