First Rickenbacker!!

I bit the bullet today and purchased a 2003 Midnight Blue Rickenbacker 4003 today!! I've wanted a Ric for 5 years and I finally found myself financially stable enough to buy one (and of course a great deal). I'm looking forward to the great time I have ahead of me playing this bass!!!!

I'm loving the bass thus far. My main bass equipment is at our studio space and I don't have access to it until next band practice which will be Monday, but I have been playing it through headphones and it's sounding fantastic.

Congrats!

I have a 2010 Midnight blue and i love it!

If you want to cover up that hole around the treble pickup, you might want to look at getting a treble bezel cover. I have the cove model and really like it.

Congratulations. Taking my first Ric into the studio was a lot of fun the first time... and it still is. :) In fact I can honestly say it gets better with age.

If you ever get to where you want it to hum cancel like a Jazz Bass there is a "free" mod you can do--it just costs you a little solder and heat from an iron. You take apart the treble pickup (easy) and flip the magnet, then reverse the wires.

Very nice!! I just purchased a brand spankin new 4003 in Jetglo and I love it to pieces! It beats the old 1970's one I had 25 years ago!!

Best of luck with yours! If you pan on leaving the pick up cover off, Pickguardian makes a nice trim package. I'll be purchasing one of those when I change strings.

Congrats! Gots me a 2009 4003 Fireglo. I can't sing the praises of these basses enough. There was a pickguardian installed on mine when I got it, but I actually prefer the original pickup cover. It's nice to rest my palm on it since I usually finger pick instead of using a traditional pick.
