Nah, I mimicked the guitar. Now that you mention it I should learn the bassline though,
The A&W Root Bear theme song from the commercials. 25 years later I still sneak it into jazz solos.
When I got my first bass back in 1991 I learned "Skin Trade" by Duran Duran. Then a few years later found myself without a bass and that lasted for like 10 years. I finally got one about 3 years ago and the first song I learned after being away from the bass was "Holy Diver" by Dio.

Having never played a stringed instrument before, Rock and Roll by Zeppelin was likely the first song I played on bass, but I kinda knew it as soon as I tried it. Same with a few others, like Paranoid, and maybe Breaking the Law.
The tune I remember having to sit down to learn, and working at it, was Last is Line by Dio.
