First SX Bass

Hey all.
I just bought one of Link Removed and I plan on doing a bunch of work on it. It would be great if you guys have better or more efficient opinions that you could let me in on

This is what I plan on doing:
Buying one of Link Removed and putting it on the bass.
Putting in a Volume, Volume Treb/Bass Audere Preamp in.
Packing some DiMarzio's or pups from an older Fender I have on it.
Relic-ing it.
Putting my signature and my logo on the headstock.

This is basically the look I'm trying to achieve.

Any help would be great.

Dimarzio makes killer Jazz pickups. That's all I really know firsthand. Although, you might look into getting some 62 RI pups, they're usually a bit cheaper and I've heard nothing but great things about them. Plus, it would fit your motif.

You are certainly on the right track. Subscribe to the SX megathread (search "essex"). I believe it is currently on part 12. There is a lot of information about all things SX in the various megathreads.

Sounds like a good plan . I have an Audere in one of my SX fivers and it does a great job . Before you ditch the stock pickups shield it and drop the Audere in it , the stock pickups sound very good .

Also look up Chunger's "basses for newbies" thread and start reading on page one. He has shared a huge amount of helpful information about bass setup and mods, especially centered on SX's.

Heh, buy 2 and leave one stock, mod the other to your hearts content.
