First time soldering, pu's are noisey

I picked up some Aguilar jazz pickups to replace the stock ones in my Squier VM Fretless. I had never soldered before (outside of high school shop class 20 years ago). It went relatively smooth but the pickups are noisey...it does sound better with both full up and I know single coils can be noisey but i wonder if its the result of my soldering. Will a poor solder job make it sound like that, even with both volumes full on?

if it's working and the pickups are soldered to ground (back of pot) it should be fine.
probably just single coil noise. try the bass in a different house/apartment (not kidding). single coils do not like certain buildings wiring.
