I played a couple out of town shows this weekend where it wasn't feasible to bring my whole rig. Instead of bring the combo amp that I would've normally brought, I just brought my new Fishman Pro Platimnum EQ bass pre. I picked it up for my upright, and even though it doesn't seem to be intended for bass guitar I was surprised that it did a good job on it. I actually had a musician in the crowd come up to ask me what settings I was using on my sansamp to get my sound. He was surprised that I was using a Fishman.

Has anyone else tired this pre on bass guitar? Am I just suffering from a lack of perspective brought on by new gear infatuation? Maybe I was just overwhelmed by the one trip load in/out.

Did you use the onboard compressor?

Why is it not that many upright players using a hint of compression live?
I mean, it`s not the easyest instrument to get a good livesound out of
