That article has a failed premise..
OTOH, I think one of the main offenses to music in the last 20 years is the over-singing and trills that female singers seem obligated to throw into their music.. Women, take a lesson from Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner and hundreds of other female singers - LEARN how to sing, and then do so, straight up. Forget the trills.
yep.The guy has a point. Their quirks that made them unique became abused by those that followed.
Did you realize that your second point agrees with the article's "failed premise"?
[reworded because it previously read much harsher than intended]
While I love her and would do a wide array of dirty things to her (my ex looked a lot like her from her '80's heydays), I agree she can't sing to save her soul! That list is only 1/5th correct. Paula Abdul can't sing at all.
That's EVERY new song! :scowl:Let's be fair here. Who among you doesn't silently curse T-Pain every time a new song comes out with heavy auto-tune/vocoder on the vocals?
What about the early 90's Seattle throat virus that everyone was catching?
oh yeah, for decades.......can't say that only five singers are to blame tho.....coulda had 'em whacked and saved the day.........Pop music has been ruined?
If David Bowie did ruin pop music, he did it on purpose and for a good reason.
though she is a product of popular music ruination,it was ruined long before britney was born......the britneys mariahs, abduls, boltons, mcdonalds,et al just keep driving more nails into the coffinSteve Perry.
Britney Spears, and four more like her.
Didn't read the article, but is Mariah *dog-whistle* Carey on the list?
I think you all are just getting old and pulling the whole "music sucks now-a-days" thing just like your parents, and their parents did.

If you guys actually read the article, its not saying that these guys were the worst singers in pop music, its that they "ruined" it somehow. I don't know if I buy that, but he seems to praise every one of the individual artists (except Abdul), then go on to explain that people copping their style lead to "ruined" pop music.
