Five String Fretless Violin Bass Build

That is just amazing work. Please tell me that is not the first time you ever carved a scroll, otherwise I'll have to give up this hobby and burn all my tools. I once played one of these funky Ampeg basses, it looked cool but was really unbalanced neck heavy as I recall. I saw it in a pawn Shop, almost bought it from the kid behind the counter for $250, then his dad came out and quashed the deal.

Thank you.

Yup! First time. I went into our local mom and pop music store and took a bunch of pictures of a scroll on a double bass they had in there for reference. I laid out all of the pictures and constantly compared what I had against the pictures. It took me two weeks to carve it by hand using nothing but small files to get the basic shape of it. The scooped out concave effect I got with a ball shaped rotary file in a dremel. Nobody ever told me I couldn't so I just tried it and I found out I could. This was also build number 4 for me.
