So I'm on tour with a Swing band and between sets I have to lean forward to pull out the new charts...well my bass got a little close to the stand and I didn't notice what I was doing until 30 some minutes later. Some slight nicks/scratches appeared on the upper left bout. I have to take my bass in for a buzz, but is there a way I could go about fixing my finish, or should I just let them do it at the shop.

Don't let little scratches keep you up at night. They can be touched up whenever the bass goes back into the shop for other work.
When I sold my bassoon to buy my bass, the bassoon guru who appraised mine said I could use Tibet Almond Stick for scratches. I've thought about using this on my bass.

This may turn the stomachs of some of the purists, but I picked up a stain marker at the furniture store that matches my bass very, very well. I use it to touch up the edges and when I ding the headstock. It looks great.
Yeah since its not a new bass...150 years old it does have some wear so its not amazingly important to me, but I'll just wait till "the tune up"
