So the only way to "TRULY" serve your country is to be a soldier or a politician? **** that. War sucks. Your sentiment really pisses me off. I've got to quit following this thread or I'm going to type something I regret...I haven't so far.

You know what they say about the last bastion of a scoundrel, right?

...I just might go deface a flag in your honor tonight.

Just remember who fought so that you could have the right to do that. (hint hint, it wasn't an R&B singer)

All I have to say is thank God for memorial services! No hate, speculation, rumor, innuendo, or negativity of any kind allowed. Whitney has been scrutinized every which way, and will continue to be, but it's nice to have at least one moment for the people who really cared about her.

That's pretty awesome that you used the first tidbit that pops up on Google about the quote, I think you should read a bit more about Samuel Johnson before you go giving history lessons.

This thread isn't getting opened, but I want to specifically address this post, since it's already gotten one report.

As someone who served this country for 24 years, I wholeheartedly support this post.

As some have forgotten, those of us who defended this country defended everyone's right to a differing opinion. To consider the flag a 'piece of cloth' (which, by the way, it is - if you've forgotten the ideals for which it stands. One of which is the ability to hold differing opinions without fear of retaliation or derision), and to disagree with
